Honorary Chairman
Reginald Savoie
As a member of the Slowpokes and one of the original
participants in 1974, the original Moncton Oldtimers
Tournament, it is indeed a pleasure and honor for me
to accept to serve as the honorary chairman of THE
2023 MOOSELIGHT MONCTONIAN HOCKEY
TOURNAMENT.
Aer moving to the Moncton area from the NB North
Shore, playing with the Slowpokes in the early seventies
became my introduction to the greater Moncton
community’s thriving sports and business culture. As I
look back at those years with fondness and gratitude, I
realize the importance this annual activity has meant to me
and my family, the friends and colleagues I am so blessed
to have frequented over the years, and how, gratifying that,
for nearly 5 decades, so many individuals and families
continue to their commitment to an event that brings
so much happiness to participants and spectators alike,
and particularly to many beneciaries through yearly
contributions to such charities as e Dumont Hospital
Tree of Hope, Friends of the Moncton Hospital, Canadian
Cancer Society, and the Alzheimer’s Society.
In business, my career has included 25 years of ownership
of a successful Kitchen Retail business, and, in 2003, I
answered the call to become the founding director of
Passage Funeral Home which now manages three locations
in Moncton, Dieppe and Shediac Bridge. As long as my
health permits, I will continue to assist our dedicated sta
of some 15 professionals to serving our growing clientele.
I’ve also enjoyed membership in the Conseil-Économique
du Nouveau-Brunswick, Club Richelieu Moncton,
Atlantic Building Suppliers and the NB Funeral Directors
Association, to name only a few. When time permits, I
continue to bowl and golf. Travel remains one of my favorite
activities at every opportunity.
Married to Suzanne for 54 years, we live in the Shediac area,
have raised three children and are proud grandparents of 3
hockey players.
Best wishes for success to the organizers, volunteers,
sponsors and participants to this year’s Mooselight
Monctonian Hockey Tournament.
